From Gandhara to Gupta: Gandhara Connections committee members contribute to Courtauld-SOAS conference

Some of the themes of our recent workshop on Problems of Chronology in Gandharan Art are being picked up by an exciting event in London on 12th-13th May 2017. Organized by the Courtauld Institute of Art and the School of Oriental and African Studies, 'From Gandhara to Gupta' seeks to cast light on the rather neglected subject of late Gandharan art, its decline, and the transition from Kushan rule to the Gupta period. For this period different academic disciplines have relied on diverging sets of assumptions. The conference aims to facilitate a dialogue across disciplines and to bring the academic discourse on this period up to date.  Among the contributors are several members of the Gandhara Connection project's international Advisory Committee: Jessie Pons and Abdul Samad will be speaking, while Christian Luczanits and Peter Stewart will chair sessions.
