This statement describes how we collect and use your personal data during your use of the Classical Art Research Centre's websites (www.carc.ox.ac.uk, www.beazley.ox.ac.uk, www.cvaonline.org, www.corpussignorum.org) (the 'sites'). Types of data we collect about you
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to collect information about how visitors use the sites. Google Analytics uses a cookie to record information about usage. We use the information to compile reports and to help improve the sites and management of the platform. The cookie collects information in an anonymous form, including the number of visitors to websites, where visitors have come from and the pages they visited. For further information on how Google Analytics handles user data please see the overview of Google Analytics Privacy Policy.
Database Access
Standard access to our databases is provided without requiring registration. However, if users require access to customised features such as storing photo albums, registration is required. For this, we collect:
- An email address and password, in order for the login to operate securely. While we do our best to protect your data and follow security best practices, no system can be completely secure and hackers may eventually find a way in to any system, so we recommend you use a different password for each system you store data on, so that if one is compromised, your data in other systems remains secure.
- An optional organisation name for anonymous statistical purposes to help with future funding applications.
We store logs of use of the database, such as search operations. We use this to help us understand how the database is used, to improve it and ensure it is secure. This processing occurs because it is necessary to meet our legitimate interests in operating and improving the database, analysing its use, and ensuring its security.

How we use your data
We process your data for purposes arising from your use of the website, for example, to ensure that we understand who uses our site and how our site is used and to improve our site and ensure it is secure.
