Florals decorate the border above, and a cable pattern the border below.
On the right; a griffin's head and neck, only the spiral plume from the head now remains.

• Copy of a fragment of a marble relief, perhaps from a throne.
• The fragment:
  • is from a relief made about 550 BC.
  • was found on Samothrace in 1790.
  • was formerly in the Choiseul-Gouffier collection.
  • is now in Paris, Musée du Louvre, Ma 697.
