The Elfriede Knauer Archive

Thanks to the generosity of Professor George Knauer and the Penn Museum, the Classical Art Research Centre possesses the academic papers and photographs of Dr. Elfriede R. (Kezia) Knauer (1926-2010), which were donated to Oxford in 2012. Dr. Knauer was a scholar of extraordinarily wide-ranging and interdisciplinary interests connected to those of CARC. As well as substantial work on the Attic pot-painter known as the Triptolemos Painter and other aspects of classical art, the archive contains material relevant to later periods of art history and, especially, to the art and culture of the Silk Road.

A detailed inventory of the archive may be downloaded from this page, and it is available for consultation at CARC's study-room in Oxford.
