God of the sea and brother of Zeus. He is a senior god, shown with a trident or fish. With Apollo he supported the Trojans against the Greeks during the Trojan War. In art he is seen with Amymone, contending with Athena for possession of Athens (Parthenon west pediment), fighting Giants and attending many marine occasions.
