Orestes

DAI Rom 64.1183In mythology, son of Agamemnon and Klytaimnestra, brother of Elektra. In art he is seen with his sister at the tomb of their father, then avenging him by killing Aigisthos and his mother. For this he is pursued by Furies (Erinyes) who cluster round him when he seeks purification by Apollo at Delphi.
