Lycia

Map of the Aegean Sea and part of Asia MinorA region of south west Asia Minor (Turkey) with its capital at Xanthos and, later, at Limyra. It became heavily hellenized from the 6th century BC on, and several of its buildings were designed and executed by Greek artists (for example, the so-called Nereid Monument and Harpy Tomb), even during the period of its allegiance to the Persian Empire in the 5th and 4th centuries BC. Other tomb monuments (as at Trysa) display a regional hellenized style.
