Stamnos

The stamnos is a wide-mouthed pot with the neck reduced to a collar and the handles set horizontally on the belly. It was sometimes used as a krater.
The shape, which
is essentially Athenian and decorated in red-figure, establishes itself during
the last quarter of the sixth century. In Athens it is popular throughout
the fifth, and in Etruria, where it may have originated, throughout the fourth
century.
